Last post, we talked about how to use Washi tape in four different ways, in this post we are going to teach you how to make your own! Washi tape can be expensive, so we have been trying to figure out a way to make our own Washi tape while still being cost efficient. We have finally figured it out!!
Here's an easy and inexpensive way to make Washi tape:
All you need is:
Wrapping paper (any kind will do)
Wax Paper (for easy application)
Cutting board
Exacto knife (scissors can work too)
Scotch Tape (normal magic tape)
Double-sided Tape
Cut a strip of wrapping paper, it can be as thick as you want.
Take your cut out strip of wrapping paper and put it to the side. Then take your wax paper and put a long strip of double-sided tape on it (make it a little longer than your wrapping paper strip.) If your wrapping paper is cut out thicker than the size of the tape, then put another piece of double-sided tape next to your first one, overlapping the first one a little bit. Lay your wrapping paper strip carefully on top of the double-sided tape.
Then, put a second coat of normal Scotch tape on top of your layered tape, just so it has extra durability.
Cut it out, make sure that the edges follow the wrapping paper.
