The best thick hot chocolate in the world is from Italy, of course. We found a recipe that we adapted from Pillsbury that was not meant to be a thick Italian hot chocolate, but after a little bit of adjusting it became just as good as any hot chocolate in Italy. This can be served hot or be put in the fridge for a cold rich pudding to serve with berries.
Here's our Italian hot chocolate recipe that will transport you to a little cafe in Rome!
Here's what you will need:
4 cups of milk
1/2 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of unsweetened baking cocoa
8 oz dark chocolate, chopped (can be substituted for milk chocolate)
1 tablespoon vanilla
In a 3-quart saucepan, mix milk, sugar, and cocoa. Heat to simmering over medium heat, about 10 minutes. Add chopped chocolate. Cook and stir until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Then reduce it down until it gets thick for about 4 minutes.
Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Pour in cups and enjoy!
We gurantee you that this will become an instant classic in your home! Enjoy! :)
